意味 Meaning：The spec, in information science, is a requirement that each product must meet. For example, "whether the voltage is 100V or 200V" is a spec. Voltage specs are set by each country and region. For product development, an engineer checks which voltage specs are correct.
The benefit of the spec is that different companies can develop products compatible with each other. As long as "PC X" and "PC Y" both meet the voltage spec, consumers can use any of the products with a single power tap. On the other hand, products that are out of the spec will not work properly.
Famous specs in information science are ISO, IEEE, RFC, and HTML to name a few.
The spec is different from the concept. The concept is a big picture of the whole world, but it is not a tangible blueprint for each product development. For example, "the Internet" is a concept, a useful term to describe a worldview, but actual product development requires more detailed information. The internet is the name of the phenomenon. TCP/IP is the name of the spec that enables the internet technically and substantially.
In most cases, the consumer only knows the concept, while the engineer understands the concept to the spec.
While complying with the spec, we develop a tangible product that actually works. This final stage of the product is called implement.
Through the learning of information science, technical terms fall into three categories according to their level of abstraction: concept, spec, and implement.
